Fingerprint identification technology of NEC Corporation won first place in the recognition accuracy category in the Templates Test Fingerprint Owners (PFT II), a reference test conducted by NIST (US National Institute of Standards and Technology ) in order to measure the performance of fingerprint recognition templates using proprietary software suppliers (* 1).
NEC ranked first in the evaluation test to obtain an average rate of 99.47% recognition, demonstrating definitively the superiority of its technology. Thanks to its advanced noise removal algorithm, NEC was able to identify accurately to the digital low-quality prints used in the NIST tests that with previous technologies, usually gave rise to misidentification, thereby enabling personal upholstery identification with a very high accuracy.
In recent years, government agencies and companies have sought stricter recognition systems for the management of personal identification operations and to prevent leakage of critical information. To address the most demanding requirements of the security service providers depend on identification by fingerprints, upholstery characterized by its unique and durable nature, as a very reliable and useful identification method, applicable to a broad range of cases.
