Surfactants in cosmetics rango and personal care | iin_rafni Haria ^ - ^
Alhamdulillah wa syukurillah, endless gratitude to Allah the creator of the heavens and the earth and its contents, after a 6-month duration of the course "Applied Surfactant" I finally teman2 other materials and have completed the course examination concludes today with the happy ending. Not to forget my teman2 material and would like to thank Prof. DR. Emriadi, MS has guided us during the first half of the past, a lot of the things that make us memorable with laughter and the knowledge gained to make us like this course.
This Class consists of my own surfactant, rio Benny Fernandez, Emelia karnila, kak Selfa samah, gusliani eka daughter, and Restina Bemis. Each of us has different tasks. and myself get a job Surfactants in Cosmetics and Personal Care.
This picture is a member of a team of material and our beloved lecturer rango Mr. Professor. DR. Emriadi, MS, and sorry to benny aka enjoy as chairman of the team is not present in the photo shoot for this afternoon rush Friday prayers.
Cosmetics and personal care is a necessity for consumers, which has the function of each. In general, cosmetic and personal benefits such as cleaners (hair & skin), skin protection, retaining water, odor removers. For consumer users, must assess the product in terms of color, odor, texture, security, rango and application of the product itself. One of the determining factors is the quality of the product from the use of surfactants.
Surfactants are compounds that lower the surface tension of a system, which is a substance that is in a low state of nature has to be absorbed in part or all of the system rango interfaces. Surfactants have a hydrophilic and lipophilic groups are balanced rango so as to be a bridge between polar and nonpolar which can lead to the occurrence of interaction between the two phases well.
To minimize the risk of medical, cosmetic makers tend to use a polymer surfactant. Additionally anionic, cationic, nonionic, amphoteric and can also be used. Several studies using natural surfactant because it is safer for the application.
And function of the surfactant itself plays a role in cosmetics, namely: Surfactants, Surfactants Cleansing Agents, Emulsifying Agents Surfactants, Surfactants Foam Boosters, Hydrotropes Surfactants, Surfactants Solubilizing Agents, Suspending Agents
Anionic surfactant is having a negative charge on the head. Including groups such as carboxylic acids, sulfuric, sulfonic acid, phosphoric acid and its derivatives, and is useful for applications that require cleaning (and toiletry foam).
Sulfate: sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS), or ethoxylated, sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) in the use of soap making. The surfactant excellent foam maker, rango cleaning agents, and relatively inexpensive. rango
Sulfonic acid: generally lighter than sulfate. They include Taurates (derived from taurine), Isethionates (derived from isethionic acid), olefin sulfonate, and Sulfosuccinates. The reason they are not used more often is that they are more expensive to produce. Cationic Surfactants
The problem of cationic surfactants are usually not compatible with anionic surfactants. difficult to produce a product that simultaneously clean. Cationic surfactants can also cause irritation so this should be considered when using cosmetics with cationic. Examples include Lauriminodipropionate amphoteric surfactant sodium and Lauroamphodiacetate Dinatrium.Amphoterics mainly used in cosmetics as a secondary surfactant. Amphoteric can help improve the foam, and even reduce irritation. Also used for baby shampoo and other cleaning products that require softness. Disadvantages are that they do not have good cleansing rango properties and does not function well as an emulsifier. Non-ionic surfactants are surfactants that are not charged. Most often used as an emulsifier, coolants, solvents rango and agents. The main Nonionics used for cosmetics, including alcohol, alkanolamides, esters, and amine oxides.
Example: to make the emulsion O / W emulsion begins with W / O that can be obtained at high temperatures (above the temperature of the emulsion HLB). Then emulsion W / O cooled rapidly to produce rango emulsion O / W Alternatively, emulsion W / O, dissolving the surfactant in the oil phase and gradually and add water while mixing. When the water reaches a certain level, the inversion to the emulsion O / W emulsion will occur. This emulsion has a smaller size than the distribution system produced by emulsifying the oil directly into the surfactant solution.
