Minister of Equipment uid and Transport, Yahya Ould Hademine gave Tuesday uid kick off work on the first section of the road which will connect the two provinces of Adrar and Tiris Zemmour.
The work of the first section, 40 km long, started between the towns of Kseir Torchane and Shum. They are made by combining SMTA-MT and are expected to be completed in twenty months. This project is funded in the state budget to the tune of 4.7 billion UM. The second section, whose early work was also given yesterday by the Minister of Equipment and Transport, involves 50 kilometers from the town and the Touajil Shum. Work for a period of 18 months will cost a whopping 5.4 billion UM also funded by the Mauritanian government. Completion of this section was entrusted to the National Institution for the maintenance of roads (ENER). This road is considered important to finally put an end to the isolation of the city Zouerate and all communities located on its route. Note that a third section, connecting the town to Touajil Fderik is almost complete. It will nevertheless 100 km without tar, but observers believe that it is a great step forward for the Tiris Zemmour is finally connected to the national road network.
